Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Sean McDevitt serves as the Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining Kaviva, Sean served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors of InfuSystem, a public company traded on the New York Stock Exchange. McDevitt is also the founding principal, and since 2007 has been a Managing Director of, Maren Group, an investment banking firm which provides mergers and acquisitions advisory services in the healthcare and technology sectors. Prior to joining Maren Group, he was an Executive Managing Director of FTN Midwest Securities Corp. from September 2004 to January 2007. In 1999, McDevitt founded Alterity Partners, a boutique investment bank which provided capital markets, merger and acquisition advisory services to high growth companies. Alterity Partners was acquired by FTN Midwest Securities Corp. in September 2004.
McDevitt was formerly a senior investment banker at Goldman Sachs & Company from 1995 through 1999 where he led deal teams in a variety of technology and healthcare/biopharmaceutical transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and initial public offerings. Prior to Goldman Sachs & Company, McDevitt worked in sales and marketing at Pfizer Inc. from 1991 until 1994. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army Rangers and was decorated for combat in the Panama invasion. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. McDevitt received his B.S. in Computer Science from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Board Member, Advisor
Patrick Cua has thirty years of healthcare leadership experience ranging from large Fortune 500 companies to startups focused on solutions for hospitals and health plans.
Cua’s industry experience began with C.R. Bard and has included executive leadership positions with CorSolutions, Matria Healthcare, Aetna, and Alere.
In addition to his Advisory Board role at Kaviva, Cua also serves as President of HSG Partners. He also serves on the board of several other successful, high-growth healthcare technology companies including BioIQ in Santa Barbara, CA, Gozio Health in Atlanta, GA, and Glytec in Waltham, MA.
Dr. Ashley Reynolds
Chief Operating Officer
Ashley Reynolds, PhD is Chief Operating Officer for Kaviva. He is a seasoned professional with over 20 years healthcare experience leading regional territories and multiple-departments for disease management, health plan, case management and wellness companies.
Reynolds has extensive experience in disease management, health promotion, health behavior, managed care, emergency nursing and critical care. He has held management positions within Positive Healthcare, part of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and U.S. Preventive Medicine. He also served as case manager for the Northeast Florida AIDS Network and was critical care/ER nurse at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville.
An expert in the area of e-Health and wireless technologies as tools for behavior change, Reynolds has published on the effectiveness of “virtual” coaches to reduce health risk. He has lectured nationally and is a member of the American Nurses Association, Society for Behavioral Medicine and the American college of Sports Medicine. Reynolds holds a PhD degree in nursing from the University of Florida and HFS certification by the American College of Sports Medicine.
Chief Information Officer
A recognized technology leader, Gary McSwain is the Chief Information Officer for Kaviva.
He is responsible for driving technology vision and strategy, in collaboration with business leaders across the organization, to develop digital engagement and mHealth solutions for millions of users.
Prior to joining Kaviva, Gary was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Internet Merchants where he architected and developed mobile, analytics, and eCommerce software products.
As VP of Software Development for Alere, McSwain led teams across the US and India to build and manage enterprise applications. McSwain has worked for numerous leading companies, including FedEx, Lockheed Martin, and Kaiser Permanente, where he led software development and product strategy serving millions of users.
McSwain is a recognized innovator with over 15 patents and trademarks in software and technology, a published author, winner of industry awards, and a frequent technology speaker.
McSwain holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from the College of Charleston.
Senior Vice President of Sales
Bob Williams is a seasoned professional with over 25 year of sales leadership, business development and consulting experience in the healthcare industry and serves as Senior Vice President of Sales for Kaviva.
Williams is a senior health and welfare strategy executive with an extensive portfolio of success driving distribution channel development, partnership development, client relationships, revenue generation and topline growth with the healthcare sector.
Williams has developed strategic relationships at the “C” suite level within Fortune 500 employers, Health Plans, Health Systems and Managed Care organizations to consult and sell through a relationship-driven sales approach.
Recent responsibility was the development and advancement of ambulatory care strategies through joint ventures and strategic partnerships with hospitals and national health systems.
Prior work experience to Kaviva, Williams specialized in care management, treatment decision support and chronic condition management for two national organizations, Optum and Alere.
Chief Financial Officer
Alex Furer is Chief Financial Officer for Kaviva. Furer has worked with a variety of healthcare, technology and business services companies lending his experience in financial and strategic planning. Prior to joining Kaviva, Furer worked at InfuSystem, Inc. where he was Associate Vice President of Finance and Strategic Planning. Here he was responsible for developing product lines and planning for their implementation. Prior to InfuSystem, Furer was an analyst at Maren Group, a boutique M&A investment bank specializing in healthcare and technology. His responsibilities included financial analysis related to a wide range of corporate finance and M&A transactions. Furer holds a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Harvard University.
VP, Wellness & Health Promotion
Renee Melton is Vice President, Wellness and Health Promotion for Kaviva. Melton joined Kaviva shortly after its inception bringing extensive experience in program development and management and has been integral to the development of core applications and design of Kaviva products. She lends her expertise and oversight to the creation and development of all programs as well as client management.
Prior to joining Kaviva, Melton held various senior positions in health care management. Through these she led the development of wellness programs, supervised research and managed executive healthcare counseling. As Undergraduate Nutrition Coordinator for the State University of New York at Buffalo, Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, she developed and taught web-based courses, taught counseling techniques and consulted in childhood obesity and cancer research. With over 20 years of experience, she has advanced education and training in counseling, behavior modification, disease prevention, weight management and has held lead roles in several large federally funded research studies. Melton holds a Master’s Degree from the University at Buffalo in Nutrition and Program Management.
Chief Administrative Officer
Thornton Kuntz serves as Kaviva’s Chief Administrative Officer. During his career spanning over 35 years, Kuntz has successfully led talent management processes, created corporate infrastructure, led process re-engineering and organizational design, and successfully assimilated more than 35 acquisitions and mergers resulting in the prolific growth of national and international businesses and the strategic transition of companies into dominant market leaders in numerous industry sectors.
Kuntz formerly served with Alere f/k/a Matria Healthcare, Inc. f/k/a Healthdyne, Inc. for 17 years, holding the positions of Executive Vice President, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, and Vice President of Administration. Here he was a key advisor to CEO and Board of Directors; successfully established the full integration of the three companies that formed Alere; led transition of Matria from maternity management into a market leading disease management, medical informatics and health & wellness company; led process that formed Matria and developed infrastructure that facilitated its growth into a $500 million health and disease management company; and successfully assimilated over 15 acquisitions of businesses. Prior to joining Healthdyne in 1992, he was associated with Glasrock Home Health Care, Inc. for seven years where he served as Vice President Human Resources and responsible for integration of over 20 acquisitions. Thornton earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of New Orleans.
